How to read the columns
Rows are ordered by winning percentage. Ties are left out of the percentage, so a club with many ties can sit higher or lower than its raw win-loss line suggests. Games over .500 is the win count minus the loss count, and goes negative for clubs with more losses than wins.
Games behind converts the gap to the leader into a number of games. Two clubs with the same figure can still be ordered differently, because they may have played a different number of games. The rule under third place marks the cut for a Climax Series berth.
The table once the season is over
Once every game of the year has been played, this page switches to a final-standings form. The games-left column drops out and the only marker left beside a club is the one for the league title. The figures are the settled ones and stay in the same order until the next season starts.
Frequently asked questions
What does games behind mean in the standings?
It converts the swings needed to catch the club above into a number of games. At 1.0 game behind, one win for the club below and one loss for the club above puts them level. Because two clubs may have played a different number of games, the order itself is set by winning percentage, not by games behind.
How do ties affect the standings?
Ties are left out of the winning percentage, which is wins divided by wins plus losses, so a tie neither raises nor lowers it. A club with many ties can therefore sit higher or lower than its raw win-loss line suggests, even after the same number of games. The T column shows how many it has.
When are the standings updated?
On days with games, after that day's games have finished. If you want the order including games still in progress, use the live board. Once the season is over the table stays in its final-standings form.
