- The figures come from the official statistics as of the reference date and change day by day during the season. They are final once the season ends.
- First-team records after being drafted, arranged by year and club; players with no first-team appearance are also counted.
- Past seasons are counted for the players selected, whether or not they are on a roster now.
- Players who did not sign are also counted in the number of picks.
- A rate marked ※ is a draft year without five full seasons behind it.

How to read the table and the figure
Rows are the round of the pick, with the seventh round and later gathered into one row. Developmental picks are not split by round; only their total is given in a separate table. Players who did not sign are counted in the number of picks.
The rate divides the players established in NPB by the number of picks. The number of picks differs by round, so raw counts would always favour the rows with more players. A draft year without five full seasons behind it carries a ※ next to the rate.
The three rows under the first round split it by whether that year's first round went to a lottery. Only years whose records could be read are split, so the three rows add up to less than the first-round total; picks from the other years sit in the first-round row alone.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the lottery split come from?
It is counted from the notes attached to the official club-by-club draft lists. Years whose notes cannot be read are not split and stay in the first-round total.
Is there a breakdown by round for each club?
The club-by-club page carries a breakdown by round. The cells count only the regular picks from draft years with five full seasons behind them, so they come to less than the club rows. The number of players in one round for one club is small, so cells with fewer than eight players are left blank. The lottery split has even fewer players, so it appears only on this all-clubs page.
Can a later round come out higher than an earlier one?
Yes. Because the figures are per player, a round can move ahead when it happens to include players who stayed in the first team for a long time. These are totals across years, and rows with few players move easily.
