Doubleheader

Overview

A doubleheader is two games of the same matchup played on a single day. In NPB, doubleheaders primarily serve as rain-cancelled game makeups, occurring only a few times annually. Player physical burden is significant, particularly for catchers and pitchers. A roughly 30-minute interval separates games. Fans benefit from two games in one visit, while teams incur additional staff and lighting costs. Once scheduled regularly for commercial purposes, doubleheaders are now minimized due to player health management priorities.
