Overview
The forkball is gripped between the index and middle fingers and drops sharply near the plate. Popular in Japan as a 'magic pitch,' it was wielded by Hideo Nomo, Kazuhiro Sasaki, and Koji Uehara. While MLB favors the similar splitter, NPB's forkball uses a deeper grip for greater drop.
