Home Run

Overview

A home run is recorded when a batted ball clears the fair-territory fence, allowing the batter and all baserunners to score. NPB's all-time record is Sadaharu Oh's 868 home runs, also a world record. The single-season record is Wladimir Balentien's 60 in 2013. Home runs can instantly change the course of a game and represent one of baseball's greatest spectacles. An inside-the-park home run, where the batter circles the bases without the ball leaving the field, is a rare feat possible only for the fastest runners.
